About the Teacher:

Amanda Trahan studied at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Teaching. Amanda is certified to teach regular education grades 1-5 and special education grades 1-12. She is also a certified Child Search Coordinator.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Amanda worked as a mental health specialist. Ms.Trahan was also a vocational program director of an adult day facility for individuals with developmental disabilities. Amanda taught at Combre/Fondel Elementary in Lake Charles, Ward Elementary in Jennings, Welsh Elementary and currently teaches at Hathaway High. Ms. Trahan is a member of A+PEL and serves on the Special Education Advisory Panel, which advises and assists the Louisiana Department of Education with the provision of free and appropriate public education for individuals with disabilities. It exists by authority of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA2004) to provide guidance on special education programs and services.
