News and Announcements

Pre-K and K Roundup for 2018-2019 School Year

Pre-K and K Roundup will be held February 16, 2018 from 9 AM-11 AM in the Library of Hathaway High. Students must be 4 by September 30th for Pre-K and Must be 5 by September 30th for Kindergarten. If your child is registering for Pre-K they must provide the following information:
Please attach the following documents and check off what you have with you today. We will make copies and return your items back to you. Thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout this process!
 Proof of Income – Must have ONE of the following:
_____ SNAP/Food Stamps – must include the child’s name and valid effective dates. (Certified thru ______________)
____ A statement from the Social Security Administration verifying that the child listed on the application is a recipient of SSI benefits, which must be accompanied by two current check stubs.
____ Two (2) consecutive check stubs for EACH PARENT or CAREGIVER IN THE HOUSEHOLD for the current year (within 2 months from the date of filling out this application.)
____ An official letter from your employer stating all of the following: a. Where parent/guardian is employed b. Hourly rate of pay c. The average number of hour’s parent/guardian works per week.
____ Current foster care placement agreement from DCFS
____ Parents who are homeless or unemployed must submit a letter of support and income documentation from support source. ____ Other: _______________________________

Accelerated Reading

This year the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program will be based on a reward system. Each student in 2nd – 12th grade that meet their AR goal with 80% correct responses and within their correct reading zone will win a free AR t-shirt that can be worn on every Monday of the year with uniform bottoms. Each nine-week period we will have a special reward to encourage our students to read.

To be eligible for trophy at the end of the school year, students must meet the following requirements:
1st Grade – at least 50 points with 80% correct
2nd grade – at least 60 points with 80% correct
3rd grade – at least 70 points with 80% correct
4th grade – at least 80 points with 80% correct
5th grade – at least 100 points with 80% correct
Junior High and High School – at least 200 points with 80% correct
